A young student from Akhoya village, Ladongnuklu Jamir has successfully cracked the IIT/JEE. Though the news of getting through the exam may not sound too much for most of general populace, however, many Naga aspirants fail to crack this exam and there are only some few Nagas who have cleared the exams.
This year, Ladongnuklu Jamir is one among the few Nagas to crack the exam in one attempt and perhaps the first from his village.
Ladongnuklu is the son of Dr. S. Alemmeren, a Botany lecturer in Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung. Ladongnuklu did his matriculation from St. Edmunds Shillong and continued secondary studies from101 Army School, Shillong. It was said that immediately after his secondary examinations, he prepared for All India Pre- Medical/Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) preliminary.
After two weeks, he reappeared All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Exam (AIEEE) and finally after two weeks he appeared IIT/JEE. In all these exams and tests that he appeared he got through with good scores. But the cream of the pie was the cracking of IIT/JEE where he got through with a high rank of 487 (ST category)
At present, Ladongnuklu Jamir is at Shillong and when this correspondent spoke to him on phone about his preparations for these exams, a happy and satisfied Ladongnuklu Jamir replied that the inputs from his teachers were helpful besides suggestions from friends and reading books.
