FIITJEE, one of the leading players in the Rs 3,000 crore engineering entrance exams coaching market in India, on Thursday said it plans to open around 60 schools across the country in the next two years.

Matrix Partners, a leading US-based venture capital firm, has invested Rs. 100 crore in the formal education project, FIITJEE state head Debdeep Banerjee told PTI here.

“We plan to open around 60 state-of-the-art schools over the next couple of years across India. The focus will be on imparting both formal and supplementary education, unlike other schools,” he said.

The schools, known as FIITJEE World Schools, will be affiliated either to state boards or the CBSE board, while simultaneously allowing students to acquire an International Baccalaureate (IB), useful for admission in US universities.

Having already established four campuses in Hyderabad, it plans more in cities like Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Bhopal, Rourkela, Kolkata and Durgapur.
