Kolkata: FIITJEE Kolkata returned with a mind boggling 33 per cent success rate in this year's IIT entrance examinations with five students in top 500 from the eastern region.

The successful candidates from this region are Siddarth Sarkar, Susnato Mondal, Shounak Dhar, Debayan Das and Vatshal Saran.

Detailing the success rate, FIITJEE State Head Debdeep Banerjee said, ''The total selections in IIT-JEE, 2010 reported so far are 2,378 from Long Term Classroom Programs and Analysis & Concept Strengthening Program. FIITJEE also has nine in top 20, 38 in top 100, 71 in top 200, 186 in top 500.'' ''We plan to open 60 World schools over the next two years in India and West Bengal will have at least two schools, one in Durgapur and another in Kolkata,'' he added.

Taking about the success story in IIT, Mr Banerjee said, ''The credit goes to the students who work so hard. We only facilitate them with the best teachers, most of whom are former IITians, and a syllabus structure that actually eases on their board exams too. So they can concentrate on one structure and in the process fare well in both the board exams and IIT.''

''I want to pursue a research career in Mechanical Engineering in future. FIITJEE has offered me the required guidance in moving ahead in my goal,'' an elated Siddartha Sarkar, who ranked 159th in the exam, told UNI yesterday.

Born in 1992, FIITJEE had served the industry for almost two decades now, producing successful candidates who have gone on to make India proud.
