FIIT-JEE set to scale up operations

FIIT-JEE set to scale up operations

FIIT-JEE — a test-preparing institute for entrance to the country’s most coveted engineering colleges, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) — is all set to diversify with full-fledged schools and colleges while simultaneously launching its programmes abroad as well.

“Our intention is to move from merely being a test-preparing institute and towards holistic education,” says D K Goel, founder chairman, FIIT-JEE. Apart from scaling up its two-year integrated classroom programme ‘Pinnacle’, it is also eyeing at foraying into full-fledged schools from next year.

“To begin with, we are coming up with three schools with multiple affiliations like Central Board for Secondary Education, International Baccalaureate and others,” Goel adds.

Fiitjee also proposes to set up universities soon. As of now, this programme is being imparted through three Fiitjee junior colleges, established in 2004, and at 21 other schools in collaboration, across the country.

Some time back, Fiitjee also entered into the arena of preparation for medical entrance exams with its ASCENT Plus programme which also prepares students for class IX and X boards, SAT, various Olympiads, and other competitive exams.

Marking its foray into international markets, Fiitjee launched the same programme at Bahrain, last year. “We plan to expand this programme to the entire Gulf countries. We also had proposals from Singapore for Pinnacle and other programmes but we will look at it next year,” Goel added.

Fiitjee was started in 1992 by Goel, a mechanical engineering graduate from IIT-Delhi to provide guidance to IIT aspirants.

“Even as we diversify, our priority is to see to it that we get much more share in terms of IIT-JEE successful candidates. Almost 57 per cent of total students at all the seven IITs together are either Fiitjee trained or ones who had been associated with us through various tests and modules. Around 22 per cent of them are exclusively Fiitjee trained. Our target is to take this share to at least 40 per cent in the coming years,” Goel adds.
